Gion Ramen Workshop - Musoshin Noodle Making Machine Experience Center's philosophy and precautions for making noodles (price, parking, etc.)

Ramen was originally introduced to Japan as “Chuka Soba” by foreigners who immigrated there, but it has since evolved into a unique dish in Japan and is now one of Japan’s representative foods. In a survey of foreigners conducted in 2018, ramen was ranked second among the “most satisfying foods in Japan.” Musoshin Noodle Making Experience Center is holding ramen workshops in Gion, one of Kyoto’s most popular tourist spots, with the aim of promoting international exchange through ramen.

This time, we will introduce the philosophy of the Musoushin Noodle Making Machine Experience Center, details about the price and parking of the ramen workshop, things to be careful of when actually participating in the ramen workshop, and what to do if trouble occurs.

Gion Ramen Workshop and Musoshin Noodle Making Machine Experience Center's thoughts

Various countries around the world have their own cultures, and they are trying to achieve true international exchange by understanding each other’s different history, food culture, music, art, etc. Eating delicious food brings happiness, which is something that is common to all countries, so cultural exchange through food is probably the easiest way to do international exchange.

Musoshin Noodle Making Machine Experience Center has three locations in Kyoto, Kameoka, Takatsuki, and Gion, and is the noodle factory for “Musoshin Ramen,” which is visited by approximately 6,000 people per month. However, in addition to making noodles, the center started holding ramen workshops with the desire to “make Japanese ramen known to more people around the world” and “spread not only the taste of ramen but also noodle making techniques to the world.”

In the noodle-making experience at the ramen workshop, you will do everything from mixing the flour with kansui (a water essential for ramen) to cutting out the noodles. After the noodle-making experience, you can compare and taste the different noodles. You can also taste the noodles with the proud soup of Musoshin Ramen, which uses plenty of local Kyoto ingredients and vegetables, and take home the noodles you made. In addition, the participation fee has been set low in order to encourage as many people as possible to participate.
